Wet Wood!
Wet Wood!
A recent survey has highlighted that over 40% of wood bought from garage forecourts is too wet for use in open fires / stoves.
Nearly half of the logs tested were found to have between 16 and 45% moisture content when less than 25% is advised for an efficient burn.
Burning of wet wood is not efficient as the fire dries the wood when it should be warming the room. It can also lead to a build- up of unwanted creosotes in the flue or chimney.
IMPORTANT: BURNING DESIRE ONLY SELL KILN DRIED WOOD READY TO USE WITH LOW MOISTURE CONTENT.
